How to publish a comment: For those of you who are not Bloggers and/or familiar with Blogs.
-- Read the post.
-- At the bottom of each post, on the far left side, in TINY letter is the word *comments*
(It may have a number in front of the word telling you how many other comments have been left already.)
--Click on the word *comments*
--A separate small screen will pop up.
(If you want to make the small screen bigger, go to the top right corner of that screen and click on the *square* icon. Your tiny screen should now fill your screen.)
--If you want to read all the comment BEFORE posting your own, just use the scroll bar on the right to get to the bottom. That is where the comment form is.
--If you want to just leave a comment, at the top of the screen (in the middle of the screen, if it is still small, on the right if it is now big) is a *jump to comment form*. Click on that and it will take you directly to the bottom, and the comment form.
-- NOTE: If you want to close the screen BEFORE leaving or posting your comment, on the top far right of the screen is *close this window*. Click on that and the screen will close, along with everything you may have written. Anything you have written WILL NOT BE SAVED.
--There is a small box on your screen now. (Or at least there should be.) It says *leave your comment*.
-- Type your comment inside the little box. (Or copy and paste your comment inside the little box if you composed it elsewhere first.)
--NOTE: Here is where I recommend writing your comment in MSword or in Outlook, or someplace else. Just to make sure that you have a copy of the comment for yourself. If you accedently close the window before completing all of the steps, everything you have done WILL BE GONE, and you will have to start over. If it is saved elsewhere, then you just have to copy and past it again.
--Just below the little box where you were supposed to *leave your comment*, are the words: *choose your identity. They are in orange.
--Just below the orange words *choose your identity* are some options for you to choose. (You will need to select one option.)
--If you have a google account your options are:
--Your name (google account) (If you have a google account, as in email, and you are signed in, you will see your google account user name here. Mine says A., yours will be your name.)
--OpenID (This is if you have an OpenID, Live Journal, Wordpress, Typepad, or AIM account and want to log on with one of those instead. However, if you have one of those acocunts, you probably do not need to be reading this tutorial in the first place. Sorry.)
--Select one by clicking on the button to the left of either option.
--If you do not have a google account, or are not signed in, your options are different. You will see a word verification setion first, then the identity selection options. This is because we have all the comments moderated and approved. Nothing goes up anonymously. Sorry.
-- You will therefore see this: *comment moderation has been enabled. all comments must be approved by the blog author.*
--Then there will some random letters and/or numbers
--Below the random letters/numbers is a box for *word verification*.
--It is going to ask you to *type the characters you see in the picture above*,just below that little space/box.
--Type in the random letters/numbers that you see in the space provided. (Do not worry about remembering the letters/numbers, they will be different each and every time you try to leave a comment.)
--Below that are your identity selection options. They are:
--Google account (With a box for *username* and a box for *password*. (There is also the option to sign up for a google account, its free, just below the *username* and *password* boxes.)
--OpenID (Again, this is if you have an OpenID, Live Journal, Wordpress, Typepad, or AIM account and want to log on with one of those instead. However, if you have one of those acocunts, you probably do not need to be reading this tutorial in the first place. Again, sorry.)
NOW...
--Here is where you hold your breath and cross your fingers if you did not compose your comment elsewhere. And if you did, and used copy and paste, you just cross your fingers...
--See that nice bright orange button that says *publish comment*?
--See that nice blue button that says *preview*?
--Click one. The orange *publish* button, if you have faith in what you wrote. Or the blue *prieview* button if you need to see your words one more time before you commit.
--If you chose the blue *preview* button, your screen will appear to blink as it refreshes. You will find yourself back at the top of the comments. Scroll down to the very bottom, using the scroll bar on the right, and you will see your (almost, but not yet posted or saved) comment in a beige/yellow window. If you like what you see, scroll down past the comment box and click on the orange *publish* button.
--You are published.
--If you chose the orange *publish* button, click on it.
--You are published.
--NOTE: If you have successfully published your comment, your screen will appear to blink at you as it refreshes. You will be at the top of the comments again. Only this time, at the very top, there will be a beige/yellow box that says: *Your comment has been saved. It may take a moment for your comment to appear on the site.*
--Now is the time to let out that breath, uncross those fingers and do a little happy dance in your seat.
--Go on, happy dance. (You know you want to.)
And know that every time you do this, Treasure has one more special piece of you. A piece that only you can share. That will be a part of him and who he is and how he views the world... So it is worth the trouble to set up a google account if you do not have one, to jump though a few comment moderation hoops to help keep out the spam and scum and the trolls. (That is what the nasty internet people are called, trolls. Cool huh? Yeah... We'll keep the troll to Tolkien for when Treasure is older and off the Blog...)
Anyway, I hope this helped.
Love from us to you,
A.
Also... I made a link to this post and added it to the sidebar on the right-hand side of the Blog. This way you can easily access it again, should you need to.
